The following information was contained in the press
packet distributed at the April 24, 2006 press conference
in which the Food Safety Policy Center, of Michigan
State University, released its findings of the study
on U.S. attitudes on food safety - who should be responsible
for it, who appears most at risk, and how severe the
risk is perceived. This survey, conducted from October
2005 through February 2006, probes the public's opinions
about trust in the safety of the national food web
and their attitudes about the federal government,
the food industry, and their own role in regards to
food safety practices.
